---- The first political victory for open source
Negotiators in Switzerland have agreed on 24 points nominally aimed at making Intellectual Property issues easier for developing countries to deal with. In order to get the deal done the U.S. had to back away from a hard line it has taken for more than a decade.

---- Top Ten E-government Countries 2007
The Waseda University Institute of E-Government (Japan), which has been ranking development of E-Government in 32 selected countries for last three years (2005, 2006, 2007), has released its 2007 World E- Government Ranking. A unique feature of this ranking is that it is the only ranking worldwide which takes into account the status of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). A total of 26 indicators were used to evaluate six sectors that constitute an ideal E-Government.

---- City-wide wireless internet: Wi-Fi for the masses
Until Philadelphia, municipal Wi-Fi networks were an idea only for small and remote towns that the telecoms and cable firms neglected. Many of those used tax dollars to build their networks, and some, such as St Cloud in Florida, have been very successful. Others teamed up with companies such as MetroFi, based in Silicon Valley, which builds free (ie, advertising-supported) wireless networks in smallish cities that ?don't have the political baggage of larger cities?, says Chuck Haas, MetroFi's boss.

---- Your Wi-Fi can tell people a lot about you
Simply booting up a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop can tell people sniffing wireless network traffic a lot about your computer--and about you.
